IRISH ICONS: EXPLORE THE EMERALD ISLE’S TOP SIGHTS

With stunning scenery, quaint towns and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, it’s easy to see why Ireland is on many of my clients’ travel wish list. I’m sharing a few of my favorite Irish experiences — and there’s plenty more where this came from.

KILLARNEY NATIONAL PARK

See the expanse of Ireland’s rugged mountains, including the McGillycuddy’s Reeks, the country’s highest mountain range. This national park is famous for its unforgettable combination of mountains, the Lakes of Killarney, woodland and waterfalls.

BLARNEY CASTLE & GARDENS

According to Irish legend, kissing The Blarney Stone endows the kisser with “the gift of the gab,” meaning great eloquence or skill at flattery. The stone itself is a block of carboniferous limestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle.

Where to stay: Muckross Park Hotel & Spa (1-hour transfer)

DUNMORE CAVE

Explore the dark past of Dunmore Cave, a unique series of limestone chambers formed over millions of years. The cave was first mentioned in the ninth-century Triads of Ireland, and later findings within the cave indicate Viking activity.

IMAGINATIVE ESCAPES: KIDS CLUBS THAT GO ABOVE AND BEYOND

Choosing a resort with a kids club can enhance your family’s getaway in a variety of ways; parents can take some well-deserved time to recharge and reconnect, while children play and learn in the presence of certified counsellors and educators. My favorite kids clubs allow young travelers to discover new cultural experiences and marine conservation, as well as the opportunity to make friends from all over the world.

JUMBY EXPLORERS

Children who visit Jumby Bay Island are offered opportunities to explore the local culture, unique wildlife and natural surroundings by bike, on the beach and on the water.
