Silversea is an invitation to discover the world and leave guests transformed. From service and amenities, to destinations and dining, read on to find out the top five reasons why I recommend Silversea to clients.

THE SERVICE EXPERIENCE: WHERE ATTENTIVENESS REIGNS SUPREME

Silversea takes service and hospitality seriously, and the friendly-yet-expert staff focuses on making guests feel pampered. The fleet of small luxury ships creates a uniquely intimate feel, with spacious ocean-view suites, most featuring private verandas, and dedicated butler service to ensure your comfort. With a guest-to-staff ratio of nearly one-to-one, friendly staff get to know your preferences and personalized touches are an art form. Whether it’s at the spa, out on excursions or at the many restaurants, Silversea’s attentive staff is there to ensure your every need is anticipated and exceeded.

THE DESTINATIONS: POLE TO POLE AND BEYOND

Silversea whisks guests away to 900 extraordinary destinations across seven continents, from the dramatic landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctica to the wildlife haven of the Galapagos Islands. Cruise alongside iconic European cities, or delve into hidden gems. Whether it’s a luxury cruise to Seville, Canada’s coasts or Chilean fjords, a classic voyage with iconic ports, or an expedition cruise to Polynesia or Africa and the Indian Ocean, a unique journey is promised every time. Silversea redefines immersive experiences that share the truest essence of the regions they reach.

THE EXCURSIONS: BEYOND THE EXPECTED

Silversea thinks beyond life on board and allows guests to immerse in the local life ashore that’s steps beyond the typical trail. Imagine yourself exploring hidden coves in the Galapagos Islands via Zodiac, navigating the icy waters of Antarctica alongside penguins, or delving into ancient ruins with a local expert. These small-group excursions prioritize intimate discovery and authentic connections, bringing the wonders of the world to life. This is where adventure and discovery overlap to make a lasting impression.

THE DINING: A CULINARY CELEBRATION

Onboard dining is a global culinary adventure focusing on gastronomic excellence. Savor exquisite Italian specialties, indulge in the rich tapestry of French cuisine or embark on a journey through the flavors of Asia, and more. And exclusive to Silver Moon sailing, S.A.L.T. Kitchen and Chef’s Table takes your exploration even further, offering a destination-focused culinary experience that celebrates the local heritage and food culture of each port.

THE FEELS: UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES

A Silversea cruise is more than a vacation: it’s the rush when you discover a new place; it’s the first delectable bite of a local flavor; it’s the surges of excitement while adventuring; it’s the heartstrings pulling as key memories are formed; it’s ear to ear smiles when days are made. Silversea crafts voyages that spark emotions, leaving you with a heart brimming with unforgettable experiences.

Nature’s Symphony: Sensational World Gardensa

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and there’s no better way to celebrate the remarkable woman in your life than an enchanting getaway. World-renowned garden escapes offer the beauty, serenity and relaxation we know every mom deserves.

JARDIN MAJORELLE | MARRAKESH, MOROCCO

Created over the course of 40 years, Jardin Majorelle is one of the most enchanting and mysterious gardens in Morocco. Enclosed by outer walls, this garden consists of a labyrinth of crisscrossing alleyways on several levels. Boldly colored buildings blend both Art Deco and Moorish influences, and the exotic botanicals came from the farthest corners of the world.

Where to stay: Royal Mansour Marrakech

GARDENS BY THE BAY | SINGAPORE

Singapore’s premier horticultural destination, Gardens by the Bay is a showpiece of garden artistry that presents plants seldom seen in this part of the world. Species range from those in cool, temperate climates to tropical forests and habitats. Be sure to stop by the Cloud Forest, home to one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls and a lush mountain clad.

Where to stay: Capella Singapore

THE GARDENS AT PALACE OF VERSAILLES | VERSAILLES, FRANCE

A visit to the Gardens of Versailles combines history, art and natural beauty — a glimpse into the sophistication and extravagance of the French monarchy. Work on the Gardens of Versailles began in circa 1661, when Louis XIV entrusted André Le Nôtre with the creation, considered just as important as the Palace. Travelers find a geometric flowerbed, ornate fountain or serene pathway at every turn.

Where to stay: Airelles Chateau de Versailles

KEUKENHOF | AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

Often considered the most beautiful spring garden in the world, Keukenhof is about a 45- minute transfer from Amsterdam. History here dates to the 15th century, when the area served as the kitchen garden for Countess Jacoba van Beieren’s castle. Today, the garden is best known for its annual Tulip Festival, which typically runs from mid-March to mid-May; ask me about 2025 guided tours.

Where to stay: Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam

RYŌAN-JI GARDEN | KYOTO, JAPAN

Japanese rock gardens are designed to evoke a sense of calm and serenity. The most popular rock garden in Kyoto, Ryōan-ji, consists of a rectangular plot of pebbles surrounded by low earthen walls; 15 rocks are laid out in small groups on patches of moss. The garden’s meaning has not been made explicit, so it’s up to viewers to find their own meaning. I’d love to hear your theories.

Aurora Art: Getaways Near Canada’s Northern Lights

I’m gearing up for International Dark Sky Week (April 2–8) with stellar destinations on my mind, including Dallas, the largest city in the path of totality for the Great American Eclipse on April 8. Several North American destinations, from Toronto and Quebec City to Palm Springs and Park City, act as gateways to the northern lights and our greater galaxy. Although it’s never guaranteed the aurora borealis will appear, the stars set the stage on any clear night. You never know, a dark night out may lead to your brightest trip yet.

FROM LAKE LOUISE

Peyto Lake, Lake Minnewanka and Vermilion Lakes are renowned for exceptional vantage points to potentially spot the northern lights — all a short drive or transfer from Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is located in the beautiful Banff National Park.

Where to stay: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise

FROM QUEBEC CITY

Both Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier and Montmorency Falls provide a stunning backdrop to the Aurora Borealis. For an even darker trek, head to Parc National du Mont-Megantic; it’s a designated Dark-Sky preserve. Succumb to even more “awe” when you return to your Renaissance-style suite at Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac — the most photographed hotel in the world.

Where to stay: Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac

FROM TORONTO

The city of Toronto is just outside the aurora oval where the stunning phenomenon can be seen, but you have a good chance to catch a glimpse of the dancing lights with a trek north to stronger geomagnetic activity. I recommend transferring out to Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve, tucked away in pristine wildness. After a late night of exploration, take the morning to relax with one of Four Seasons Hotel Toronto’s state-of-the-art spa treatments.

Where to stay: Four Seasons Toronto

EXPERT VIEWING TIPS

  • Head out between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. for pitch-black, sun-free hours
  • Opt for nights with cold, clear skies to maximize your chances of visibility
  • While cities are preferrable basecamps for travel exploration, transferring to more remote regions with plenty of darkness allows for ideal viewing conditions. Trust me, it’s worth the trip!

For visitors of Southern California, the east side of Joshua Tree National Park is the best pool of darkness — now protected by ordinances of San Bernadino County. Plan your trip from March to September to see the Milky Way in all its glory; June and July are considered peakviewing months.

JORDANELLE STATE PARK

Of all the certified International Dark Sky Parks around the world, the highest concentration of parks is in Utah. With Park City as a homebase, explore the best of the state’s dark skies beginning in Jordanelle State Park, then Timpanogos Cave National Monument and Antelope Island State Park.

Where to stay: Waldorf Astoria Park City

BIG CYRPRESS NATIONAL RESERVE

One of the darkest night skies in the eastern United States, Big Cypress is where travelers to Florida can enjoy the splendor of the Milky Way just a short distance from Naples to the west and Miami to the east. Visitors can join a ranger-led astronomy program for a guided experience.
